Winning Form has an exciting opportunity available for a General Assistant (Projects) to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to, the execution of all project-related activities, such as: construction, installations, refurbishment, repairs and other civil and maintenance-related work.
Minimum requirements:
• 1 – 2 years’ experience in Building / Maintenance works
Advantageous:
• The ability to read and understand Technical drawings
Responsibilities:
Core Operational Duties
• Execute tasks according to priorities and project plans
• Adhere to schedules and maintain timelines
• Prepare construction / maintenance work areas
• Organize tools and materials required for the task at hand
• Maintain clean and safe working areas
• Ensure that all safety guidelines and regulations are followed
• Regular inventory check of materials and tools
• Be proactive in finding efficient ways to work
• Specific skills:
o Building skills (Brick and Mortar)
o Plumbing (Basic)
o Electrical Heavy Current (Basic)
o Use of Power and Hand Tools
o Working at Heights
o Scaffold erection
o Firefighting – Level 1
• Adhoc duties
People
• Performance must be tracked by yourself, and the onus is placed on you to set-up performance review
meetings with the Line Manager
Compliance, risk and quality
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
• Identify and report issues on site to Projects Team Leader
• Report on progress to the Projects Team Leader at various checkpoints
Skills and competencies:
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Must be result-driven.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Team player and ability to show initiative at all times.
• Ability to work under pressure and still produce quality results timeously.
• Must prioritize and anticipate time frames and plan accordingly.
